Surfboard building is taking the wood working skills I learned to the next level.   There is something about creating a board and then going out in the ocean to surf.  Not only the boards I build are beautiful pieces of art, they are high performance boards you can use.  A hollow wooden surfboard becomes a heritage board that can be handed down generation after generation.   The boards are made to be ridden season after season and hang on the wall in between as art.   Each board is made out of different sustainable lumber.  I use native New Jersey white Atlantic cedar harvest from the pine barrens.  I also like ancient the boards to give each one its own character.   Once the board is complete it is glassed and coated with a eco-friendly sap based resin.   Then it is polished to a smooth beautiful finish.
